I’ve travelled far and wide, but I’ve never written a travel blog. But yesterday, I kinda did it. I lived in West Berlin from 1987 to 1988. It was during that time when I was lucky enough to visit the Soviet occupied East Berlin. I also I stood on the Glienicke Bridge. Watch Bridge of Spies if you don’t know the significance of the bridge.
In 1995 I served in Kenya for 12 weeks. It was the first deployment of my military career. The rest of the 90s were kind to me. I was lucky enough to serve in Cyprus (twice), Brunei, Jamaica and the Balkans (allbeit under a humanitarian mission).
🛫Enough of that, hit the link below if you want to read the full spectrum version of events.
Chaning my paradigm
Practice, practice, practice. Sports commentators often talk about importance of practicing. That’s certainly true about writing. It’s taken me a while to stop feeling like an imposter, and to stop feeling cowardly behind the keyboard.
My mindset has completely changed. I’ve written both humour and a travel blog this week. That white space below your cursor is screaming JUST WRITE SOMETHING! People have asked my why I run mulitiple Substacks. Writing is fun, so why not!
Diary of a Writer started as something a bit low key, but after a few posts I’ve got a small audience, which is a bonus. It means I have something to share, and that’s another key message from Substack! Everyone has something to give!
It’s 06:14 and I’ve already written a ghost blog. I have so much damn energy in the morning, it’s freakin awesome.
That’s it for this edition. I’ve got to tend to my other projects. I am having waaaay too much fun.
Hit me up
and check out my other Subs!
